Question:

Hi,

I'm a nurse who often has very chapped skin on her hands. I read a study that has data showing that rectal secretions have a higher HIV viral load than either blood or semen. A nursing home resident that I care for is coinfected with both HIV and Hep C.  The resident also has a medical condition which results in bloody diarrhea alternating with constipation. Nurses have put suppositories and done rectal checks on him. Can I contract either Hep C or HIV by inserting my chapped finger in his anus using a vinyl glove? (My facility does not use latex or nitrate gloves).

Question:

Hi,

My name is Jonathan. I was visiting India recently, and one day, was walking in a crowded mall when I felt a prick or strong vibration on my left hand's index finger.

It was just a prick and strong vibrating sensation, but no pain at all. I later noticed that some of the foreskin was gone, though.

Could it be a possibility that I have been infected with HIV or Hepatitis, etc? Maybe the person used an infected needle or syringe with Vibrovein to transmit the infection?

Please help!
PS: Also sent this question via email. Sorry to repeat, but am really worried.

Question:

Today I went to an educational event for school-related purposes at a mental health and addictions hospital. I went to the washroom in a staff bathroom on a floor that appeared to be mainly offices however I later found out that the floor also contained a substance addiction program for children and youth from the Caribbean and Africa. When I went to the washroom I sat on the toilet without thinking. I don't recall if I looked at the toilet to ensure that there was no urine or menstrual blood on the toilet. Yesterday, I went running and my pants chaffed my bum. If there was menstrual blood from an HIV+ or HepC+ person what are my chances of contracting either virus since my bum was chaffed from the day before? Should I be especially concerned due to the location of the bathroom? Should I get tested? Thanks.

Question:

Hi i had protected sex with a sex worker at the red light district in amsterdam. Cannot remeber if the condom was intact. I also had unproteced sex with a girl at college. Since these exposures i have had many symptoms manily relating to digestive health. I took a hiv test 3 and 6 month after exposure both came bk negative. However i have not tested for Hep C and all my symptoms relate to this condition. Futhermore my symtoms are quiet bad so i feel it may be chroinc Hep C. I took medication on day of test for my stomach but it was not Hep C medince as i have not yet tested for Hep C. My concern is wheather having Hep C could mean that my results are not conclusive. I heard that people with Hep C have to test for up to 1 year is this true. This is what many medical websites have stated. Futhermore i also read that many people who have Hep C are likley to have HIV therefore would my results not be conclusive. Please tell me what to do next should i test for Hep C do i have to test for HIV again as i am having acute or chroinc Hep C symptoms?? Please help on what to do next. Thanks
