Greetings from Africa.
2 months ago I was treated to the shock of my life when the lady I had unprotected intercourse with (once) tested HIV positive (at 2 testing centers- using rapid blood tests). I tested negative (once) though it was just a week after the unfortunate intercourse and it meant I had to test again according to the 12 weeks-6 months recommendation. After this calamity my life suddenly changed to the point attempting suicide. That aside, I began waiting for the 12 week period and started taking immune boosting herbal supplements as I waited (they have always been my medicines for fever, flu and the rest so I thought it wise to take them for the unknown e.g. opportunistic fever, flu etc.).
Please answer the questions below for me as I trust your answers on this topic.
1. I tested again at 10 weeks because it was difficult to wait for 12 weeks and the result was negative (rapid test). Could the immunity herbs I am drinking be extending the window period and thus presenting a possibility for an unreliable negative result at 10 weeks? I intend to do another test at 12 weeks in view of this, is it necessary?
PLEASE help with the answers to these questions because I have really been stretched by fears. Please know that I will never repeat that unfortunate mistake as I was just out of my mind! I will also let you know the results at 12 weeks based on your recommendations above.
Regards,
Lingie
I have just completed testing after 179 days from last possible exposure. My test results were Negative, however I still continue to have symptoms, muscle fatigue, patch of yellow/white on the back of tongue, sinus issues. The test I had was a Clearview Complete rapid HIV 1/2 test. What bothers me is that there is these known rare strains but no test has been confirmed to detect them, strain N, O and P. I know that these strains are very rare but still have a possibility of infecting people. Is there a test that I can take to confirm that I don’t have some rare HIV strain?
Thank you!
Hi is their any case where a person would not produce antibodies at 6 months? I was born with eczema which i was ushave been on meds for throughout my whole life (21 years old) including steroid creams . Furthermore i also have inflammatory bowel disease. I have this for a year now which again i am on numerous meds for. Furthermore i developed this condition after my exposure so i am worried it may be related to HIV. My exposure was in Feb/mar 2012. Test taken June 2012, December 2012 and April 2013.
My questions are
1. Are these tests conclusive despite the fact i have 2 autoimmune diseases'?
2. Can only immune suppressing medication block antibody production?
3. Can the meds i am taking affect my test??? (been taking meds for eczema whole life and meds for ibd for over a year) 4. can i trust these results and move on or shall i get a RNA test?
Thank you so much for your time guys take care
I had one HIV ECLIA test after 2 years of an unprotected oral sex and was negative.Should i do some other test or its ok
Hello,
I have had a negative hiv lab test at four weeks and three negative poc Insti Rapid tests at 16, 20 and 41 weeks. Yet I continue to present a myriad of symptoms like periphereal neuropathy and skin conditions. Should I try to get another tab test because the rapid test is not sensitive enough? I have been battling this issue for over a year.
Thanks!
Hello, I have a history of becoming overly anxious over a possible HIV infection, so after my last test i felt relaxed… I am a bisexual male in my twenties and I met this guy online and we met (just to talk) i cut my hands on my way out to the meeting (sheet of paper) I shook his hands twice, (cut is on the ring finger) what if he had a cut as well ? I did not notice any blood coming out of my cut, but when I put hand sanitizer on it it was burning… do i need to be anxious again?
Thank you!
At eleven weeks my Elisa combo test is negative and my RNA Quantitative PCR is also negative. I read that only reason RNA (viral load) can be undetectable (after 2-3 months) is due to the presence of antibodies. So if antibodies and viral load both are undetectable at 11 weeks then do I need further testing?
I had anal sex with a man who I believe is HIV positive. He wore a condom when giving it to me. He went for about an hour with different positions. The condom did not break. I also used a condom on him. Because he is positive I am worried about this. Lube was used. Realistically, what is my risk. A percentage would be helpful.
I had a unprotected sex with women in last year january.after that no other exposure.in may I took tridot test 1.after 2-3 days(negative)
2.after7 months tridot(negative)
3.after 15months tridot(4 test in week) (negative) 4.after 16 months tridot(2 test in week) (negative) I had also took a test of that women two time in day.....both my and that women. result are negative....
