1. Hi i wanted to know is the RNA test better than the 3rd gen test as it looks for the genetic material rather than the antibodies to virus? Therefore is it more accurate? I test negative on a test which took a sample from my arm (guessing this was 3rd gen) at 3 months post exposure. However i am still worried.
2. Furthermore i also wanted to know how are antibodies developed? Do they develop in the blood or does a certain organ's immune response produce the antibodies? Please reply as i am really worried because one of my organs is damaged and therefore i feel that is affecting my body's immune response. I know this sounds silly but could explain how the immure system responds, Thank you really appreciate it
Risk with shaving blade cut during hostel fight
We had fight in hostel and one guy used shaving eraser to punch others and cut many folks with same eraser. The difference between each cut was less than few seconds.
How much HIV risk does it carry?
Is is equally serious as injection needles are?
Should I get tested for HIV?
I had a following exposure a Month ago:
With a CSW, I did not do a penile-vaginal intercourse.
I did dry humping though. On her stomach and on and around her Vagina.
Throughout the Dry Humping, I was wearing a Condom and an Underwear. She was completely naked.
I have asked this before and have got a reply from you that the encounter is not a risky one and has low chances of transmission of HIV.
Still because of super anxiety, I went in for an HIV Test:
4th Gen DUO Test: 3rd Day: Non Reactive
4th Gen DUO Test: 19th Day: Non Reactive HIV 1 RNA Quantification Test (Cobas Ampliprep and Cobas Taqman): Below 20 copies/mL The Range of Detection of this test is: 20 Copies/mL
Is it fine that the result above is Below 20 copies/mL ?
I faced Night Sweats for 2-3 nights but no other symptoms. Is the RNA Test on Day 26 proper ?
Below 20 copies/mL means it is negative, right ?
I asked the Lab, they said it is Negative ! But I want to re confirm !
Also, I will test at the 84 day mark but I am worries a lot because of the above !

First of all, thank you for your service.
Seven days ago, I had protected anal sex with a transgender CSW. After the act, I filled the condom with water to check for leaks, and there were none. The condom never slipped and I never felt like it would. However, here are my concerns. Thinking back there were times when my penis wasn't fully erect and I still interested into her. Could it be possible that even though the condom never slipped, the HIV virus could have escaped from the bottom of the condom (since, it is loose) and reach the tip of my penis ? I had a small (~1mm) cut on my thumb, which was around a day old, it wasn't bleeding but wasn't fully healed. I did not finger her, but I did hold the condom that was inserted in her and there is a chance that the cut on my thumb came in contact with the condom, can HIV be transmitted this way? Lastly, when removing the condom, the tip of my penis could have contacted the outside of the condom, I am worried that the virus might have escaped in this way. Could you please tell me how much risk I have placed myself in ? I plan to never ever in the future indulge in something like this.
Also, I have called her up and asked about her HIV status and she tells me that she tested in Dec and she was negative, she could quite easily be lying. I plan to take the HIV RNA, qualitative test by TMA at 10 days, can I assume that the result it gives as conclusive or will I need further testing ? Thank you
Hello. I'm not sure about the different tests out there but at day 22 I had a Aptima RNA HIV Qualitative Assay test that come out negative.
How reliable is this test at 22 days?
Is it better or worst than PCR tests or DNA? I'm reading about a lot of this tests and is difficult to understand the different types.
I've had a bad case with halitosis, from nasal end. I've tried mouthwash and antibiotics but all of no help, just seem to get worse.it is barely 3 weeks from my last test, 5 months post exposure negative rapid test. i also have had other symptoms. but this is just disgusting and embarrasing.
1. could be infected by a rare strain or co infection with some other virus? just an opinion 2. could this be a signal for a low cd4 count?
3.i cant find any information on net concerning alere determine rapid test window period, pls can you check that up for me
Hi, I received oral test from an unknown woman and I used condom. She lick my anus and I drink her urine. Am I in high risk? When can I do the HIV test? How accurate is the early test?
I have a couple of questions for you, folk. First, what type of test is offered at Bute Clinic at Qmunity Center? I often time heard about 4th Generation/DUO test HIV Testing and 3rd Generation ELISA HIV Testing from AIDS Vancouver. In the past, I have tested HIV at Bute Clinic hundreds of time, but they never told me if the tests were 4th or 3rd generation. Or maybe they have different kind of test. I am totally curious with these things.
Second, are you connected with the Qmunity? If you are, do you know what the closing dates for the Christmas and New Year are? But if you are not, please don’t bother.
Ok, I got to go now and I really appreciate all the info I might be receiving.
