If you’ve recently been diagnosed with HIV and need to talk to a counselor, professional support is available for you and your family in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Sharing your experiences with people who have been through the same situation can reduce your sense of isolation and help you overcome your feelings. Join one of the groups listed on this brochure when you feel ready.

Wednesday Evening Support Group (7:00pm - 9:00pm)
The Wednesday evening group welcomes people living with HIV disease, people who are co-infected with Hepatitis C, as well as family, friends, medical or social supports of group members. The group focuses on mutual support, empowerment, and information exchange.

Average Joes Social Group - Wednesday 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Average Joes is a friendly and supportive social group for HIV+ Gay Men*. Participants can drop-in anytime between 8-11 pm Wednesday evenings at Numbers Cabaret (1042 Davie Street, 2nd floor). The guys meet by the pool table on the second floor. Average Joes is a casual social setting where Gay HIV+ guys play pool, enjoy pizza and win prizes, courtesy of BCPWA Society and Numbers. *BCPWA Membership is not required

"Our support group meets twice a month and is a support group for people living with HIV/AIDS. The group is facilitated by a MCC staff member, and is open to anyone who is HIV positive and wanting this kind of support. We are currently the only support group in the Fraser East health region for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
