Grocery Coordinator (Interim)

Job Summary:

The Grocery Coordinator oversees the day to day operations of the grocery program including food ordering and grocery distribution to registered clients, along with supervision and support of grocery volunteers.
Some of the duties will be:

  • Consults with the immediate supervisor on program issues and direction;
  • Orders and tracks grocery program supplies;
  • Ensures grocery program inventory is relevant to client needs;
  • Adheres to grocery budget;
  • Screens, orients, trains grocery program volunteers;
  • Schedules and provides work direction to program volunteers;
  • Supports volunteers in working with difficult clients;
  • Maintains grocery program database information;
  • Compiles qualitative and quantitative statistics and reports related to program;
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers, donors and partners;
  • Responds to client and donor enquiries and concerns related to the grocery program;
  • Ensures clients have direct input into the functioning of the grocery program;
  • Develops resource material to provide clients with nutritional information (HIV specific)
  • Networks with other community groups and/or agencies on program related issues;
  • Ensures volunteer recognition at the program level;
  • Conducts exit interviews when volunteers leave the program;
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma with 2 years recent volunteer coordination experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • FoodSafe

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to train, supervise and manage volunteers in a hectic environment;
  • Conflict resolution skills;
  • Knowledge of issues related to diversity, and to the needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS;
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job;
  • Basic computer skills.
