Press Release
Students to Host Concert to Raise Money for AIDS Vancouver
Six students from the Entertainment Business Management (EBM) program at Vancouver Film School will host a concert to raise money for AIDS Vancouver. ‘Local Noise’ will be held on June 8th, 2008 at the Plaza Club, 7pm. Four local bands will play: Fighting for Ithaca, No Holds Barred, The Fury and a special guest. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com for fifteen dollars or twenty dollars at the door.
During the event, a 50/50 draw for prizes and a date auction will be held. Two lovely females and two handsome males will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The theme is to celebrate Vancouver by highlighting a local charity, bands, sponsors and pride.
The event is being assembled using only innovation and help from the community. The bands have donated their services; organizations have supplied the prizes; participants of the date auctions have agreed to give their time; and the technical crew has volunteered their expertise.
According to Michael Hunter, “We want to do as much as we can to help AIDS Vancouver. Members of the community have been a great assistance. We have much appreciation for the volunteers and organizations that are assisting with the show. Without them, none of this would be possible.”
The choice to support AIDS Vancouver stems from a strong focus on fundraising efforts for charities like cancer research and natural disasters. Subsequently, AIDS charities have been under represented.
This is the first event that these students have planned, and their goals are to donate proceeds to AIDS Vancouver, raise awareness of AIDS and AIDS Vancouver and recoup the cost of hosting the event.
Come out and enjoy some local entertainment while giving back to the community at the same time.
