bioLytical Laboratories (http://www.biolytical.com) has developed a rapid HIV testing kit, known as INSTI, that seems to be gaining steam. Last year, the Richmond-based company teamed up with Virgin Mobile Canada and UNICEF to provide free INSTI testing during their Test Your Commitment (http://www.testyourcommitment.com) campaign, which took place in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. According to their Dec. 4 2007 press release, INSTI is "the only Health Canada approved diagnostic kit for point-of-care testing that delivers HIV results in 60-seconds".

However, I am unaware of any testing clinic in Vancouver that provides this test. If anyone has any more information, I'd like to know as well.
