Stabbing

Scary but true. Two individuals stabbed with the same knife seconds apart. The first individual is HIV+. What is the likelihood that the second individual would become HIV+?

I imagine it is as high

I imagine it is as high risk as sharing of uncleaned needles. Seems to be a case where post-exposure prophylaxis is required.

Blood is one of the body fluids that contain high levels of HIV, and a stab wound would provide direct access for the HIV virus on the knife to enter the bloodstream of the second individual. The HIV virus cannot survive outside the body, but in this case the virus is outside of the body for only a brief period before it can enter the body of another individual, further increasing the likelihood of transmission.
