Volunteer Application

Requirements

  1. Must be 19 years of age or older
  2. Have legal immigration status in Canada; i.e. resident, citizen or student visa
  3. Be willing to make a 6 month to 1 year commitment to volunteering
  4. Must be willing to complete a criminal records search if required by a position

How do I apply and get involved?

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or practicum student, please complete the following steps:

  1. Make sure you meet our above requirements (age, commitment and immigration status).
  2. Check to see which opportunities best match your current interests, skills or reasons for volunteering.
  3. Make sure your available time matches the availability needs of your position(s).
  4. If you would like to apply, print out the Volunteer Application form and complete it. (If you are unable to print out the form, call us at (604) 893-2266 leave your complete name and address and we will send it by mail.)
  5. If you are applying for Care Teams, Registered Therapists/Counsellors or Gayway (Gay Men's Health) please also print and complete two General Reference forms and one Family/Friend Reference form. Ask your references to complete the forms and mail, fax, or email them to us.

  7. Wait for us to call. Once Volunteer Resources has received your completed application, we will contact you to set up an interview.

Checklist

  1. Print application form.
  2. Print out 2 General Reference forms and 1 Family/Friend Reference form if required by your position(s). Distribute to your selected referees. Have your referees complete them and then mail or fax them to Volunteer Resources.
  3. Read all instructions fully before completing form(s).
  4. Mail or fax your completed form(s) to Volunteer Resources.
  5. Wait for us to call. Once Volunteer Resources has received your completed application, we will contact you to set up an interview.
