Grocery ProgramThe AIDS Vancouver Grocery provides people living with HIV weekly access to nutritional foods and goods. Volunteers assist with all aspects of running the grocery. Set-up volunteers unload trucks and stock shelves. Distributors assist people with collecting their groceries. Delivery Drivers use their own cars to provide home and hospice delivery and service. Mileage reimbursement is provided. We are looking for people who enjoy working in a busy yet friendly environment that serves diverse populations. Computer skills are also an asset. Client Services
Library assistantVolunteers assist in providing current information on HIV and AIDS through our collection of books, journals, videotapes, and subject files. Volunteers are involved with processing new materials, providing information and completing related duties. Client Services
Reception ServicesReception volunteers complete a variety of activities that assist our main reception desk at our Seymour office. Volunteers receive and respond to clients and the general public by: attending to incoming telephone calls; providing prompt and polite referrals to the appropriate individual, program and service; and assisting AIDS Vancouver clients with agency appointments. Nutrition Education Exchange FacilitatorCome join our team of nutritionists and dietitians in an interactive and informative environment. Front-line volunteers are needed to help create and facilitate nutrition education to clients of AIDS Vancouver's Grocery Program. Volunteers also help with the research, production and distribution of a weekly newsletter. So if you like food, healthy eating and helping people to meet their best nutritional health needs, then join our team. Outreach Volunteer: Vick VancouverUnder the direction of the Gayway Services Coordinator volunteers will assist in providing Vick Vancouver teasers, information, resources and referral services to gay men in Vancouver. Outreach venues may include clubs, parties, bars, the internet, and other venues. If you possess understanding and comfort with issues of sexuality, addiction, poverty, privilege, oppression and diversity, strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a desire to make a difference in the gay men’s community and culture/subcultures, then this is the position for you. Financial Administrative Assistant

Objective

To assist in the smooth and efficient financial and administrative operations of the Financial Department. The volunteer will complete a variety of administrative tasks that support the goals of the department team.

Duties

The volunteer administrative assistant is responsible for:  

  • filing, faxing, photocopying and word-processing
  • maintaining and updating financial records and files
  • liaising with existing department contacts to access appropriate/relevant information
  • according to AIDS Vancouver policies
  • collating information and correspondence
  • completing related/appropriate tasks

Skills & Attributes

  • Computer skills – word processing, spreadsheet programs and ACCPAC
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Comfortable receiving direction and seeking clarification
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material in a professional manner
  • Comfort working with HIV/AIDS and related issues
Administration
Grocery Cleanup

Objective:
To assist the program in providing supplemental groceries to people living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Vancouver area, and strive to promote nutritional health. The AIDS Vancouver Grocery allows for individuals to choose nutritious food items in a safe and non-judgmental environment. This position helps to ensure that the Grocery is clean, set up and ready for distribution.
