Health Care

  • We can refer you to:
    • HIV-knowledgeable health care workers and liaise with them
    • Mental health and/or alcohol and drug services
  • We will gather information and support for you about:
    • Conventional and alternative treatments
    • Harm reduction information
    • HIV treatment (access/adherence, symptom management)
    • HIV/HCV co-infection

Housing

  • We have information for you about housing options:
    • Shelters, market housing, subsidized housing, supported living, hospice, transition houses, recovery housing
  • We can help you fill out applications for subsidized housing
  • We can try to find you assistance in securing temporary and long-term housing

Financial Help

  • We can help you apply for:
    • Income assistance and benefit programs (disability benefits, Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, private disability programs)
    • Medical coverage
  • We can offer you information on:
    • Debt relief
    • Financial planning

Legal Issues

  • We will help you arrange to:
    • Write your Will
    • Name a Power of Attorney
    • Create guardianship/representation agreements

Practical Needs

  • We will provide you with assessment, referral, and planning in the areas of:
    • Food and nutrition
    • Transportation
    • Parenting resources
    • Education and training
    • Daily living needs

Psycho-Social Support

  • We can refer you to:
    • Support groups
    • One-to-one counselling
    • Peer support
    • Support networks
    • Volunteering
