Hi I was very stupid last night and had an encounter with another man I didn't know (I am a male). He gave me a short blow job - maybe a minute or so - (my penis has no signs of cuts or abrasions). I then gave him a blowjob but insisted he wore a condom which he did - this did not split. We then masturbated and he rubbed his penis on mine (I don't think the condom was still on). He came on to my stomach. Am I at risk of HIV - thank you in advance for your advice.
Hi There. Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver forum for your source of HIV/AIDS related information.
Receiving oral sex is considered a negligible risk, this means that there is a potential for HIV transmission because it involves the exchange of body fluids, however there has never been a confirmed case. As long as the condom didn't break, giving oral sex would also be considered negligible risk. Even without a condom, the change of HIV transmission from giving oral sex is low, and there have only been a small number of reports of infection attributed to this activity.
Non-insertive masturbation is considered to be a no risk activity because the activity has never demonstrated to lead to HIV infection. This is because HIV can only survive for a short time outside of the body.
While the activities you have engaged in present relatively low chance of HIV transmission, we encourage everyone who is sexually active to get tested and be aware of their HIV status. In addition, STI testing is an important step to take, since there are many can be transmitted simply through skin to skin contact.
Please feel free to contact me for any further information.
