Question:

Hello,

I have had tests after 15.5 days after my last sex with a women. I used condom for vaginal sex. I did not use for oral sex.

Here is my test result text. I am not sure it has checked both antigens and antibodies.

HIV COMBO(P24) MEIA       0.09

Please share your comments. I know I should wait 28 days for a new test but it is really difficult to wait.
Should I worry? How much should I worry?

Question:

Do you get reports about the effectiveness and accuracy of current HIV rapid tests?  Are there many false negatives after 12 weeks that turn positive later on? Is it possible to have three false negatives at 5, 6 and 10 months?

Question:

Hello. I recently posted about having an hiv antigen and antibody combo test done after 24 days (3.5 weeks) of a possible exposure which was negative. The response I received was that these results ultimately meant nothing cause it was too soon. I am a little confused on this. I understand only a three month test is conclusive. However, I thought antigens were in high amounts in the first few weeks. A few questions :

1)  Isn't the antigen represent  the HIV virus itself and even if I hadn't developed detectable antibodies, if detectable antigens were there would this make test positive?
2) I also heard a weakened immune system delays production of antibodies (I believe to have a weakened immune system) does this mean the antigen development will be delayed as well
3) I read a 28 day combo test is very unlikely to change. Since I was at day 24, is that a good sign?
4) after since post exposure I've had intermittent chills for month after, a sore throat lasting 5 days about two weeks after (had tonsils out past summer which I thought was strange) and after sore throat was gone a light rash on back and chest with one night of fever that drove me to doctors where I asked for the test. Also have had tingling feet. Got the test done when rash was there and sore throat already cleared up, would that have helped positive result !?

Thanks for reply. Really hoping to get insight on all this as to ease my mind I am freaking out. Thank you!!
