Question:
Hello I have sex with my male partner but did not have anal intercourse but his semen is in the buttocks can I be infected by AIDS
Answer:

Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline forums as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.
AIDS is a diagnosis when someone has had HIV for a long time and their immune system is unable to fend off infections. It is also likely that their CD4 count is very low. You can learn about the basics of HIV/AIDS here:

So the concern would be around contracting HIV. What I hear you saying is that you didn’t have full anal intercourse but his penis was inserted enough to put his semen in your bum? Or was it just on the edge of your bum? It depends on if there were any rips or tears on or in your bum. The anus is a vulnerable place for rips and tears via anything being inserted into it. Using lots of lube is a good way to prevent rips and tears. Using condoms is a good way to protect the bum.
What I can say without knowing exactly what happened in your experience is that the risk increases if there is insertive unprotected sex with ejaculation. If it was just on the outside or just inside of your bum it isn’t likely that transmission would occur. Again, depending on whether or not there was any play that could cause tears.
Please let us know if we can provide any further information.
Wishing you good health,
Heidi
