Question:

I am a man and i just recived an oral sex from a sex worker and i used protection that means condom, but her spit fell on my private hairy area. can i contract genital herpes like that?

Answer:

Hi there and thank you for using the AIDS VAncouver Helpline as your source of HIV/AIDS related information.
With herpes there has to be direct skin to skin contact- spit can not transmit herpes. So, if some of her spit simply landed in your genital hair then no, herpes cannot be transmitted that way.

Herpes can be transmitted though if her mouth came into contact with parts of your penis that were not covered by a condom. Condoms are the most effective means of preventing transmission of STIs including gohnorea and syphillis (which can be transmitted very commonly through unprotected oral sex).

Thanks for your question,
