Question:
What are some of the symptoms of AIDS? How do I know if I'm HIV+? Thanks, A
Answer:

Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.
AIDS is a disease that  progresses from an HIV infection. Note that HIV does not always progress to a diagnosis of AIDS. So the concern would be with HIV transmission.
The symptoms of HIV are the same as the symptoms of many other viral infections. Are there any specific symptoms you are concerned about? Please see this link that has information about what we refer to as the Transmission equation. This will help you assess if you have had a risk experience:
http://www.aidsvancouver.org/hivtransmissionequation
If you think you might have been exposed to HIV, the best way to find out if you are positive is to get an HIV test. These are available at many places in Vancouver & surrounding areas, many of which are listed here: http://www.aidsvancouver.org/info/testing/testsites.
If you want more information about HIV testing, you can call and speak to someone at the Helpline, anonymously and confidentially by calling 604-696-4666, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Wishing you all the best,
Arden
