The AIDS Vancouver Pride Float

AIDS Vancouver hops aboard Candy Dart Shuttle for a memorable Pride march!

The Vancouver Pride Parade is always a very special event for AIDS Vancouver. It's our chance to hit the street with over half-a-million of our friends, and as we've come to expect in recent years, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful summer day.

This year we were very excited to be joined by one of our favourite local supporters, Candy Dart, who provided their shuttle bus to act as our float for the parade. Our longest-standing volunteer May McQueen once again took her place in the front seat, while Sibel Thrasher performed for the crowd from the lift-turned-stage in the back of the bus. Candy Dart has been a great supporter of ours; from lending a helping hand during our 2013 Holiday Grocery to generously donating a portion of t-shirt sales to AIDS Vancouver. Thanks again for coming through!

Down on the beach, our information stand hosted the launch of our New Face of HIV initiative. It was inspiring to be able to engage and inform everyone who came by to chat, to answer questions, and to hear personal stories from those who are undetectable or who have yet to hear the term. It's a conversation we're truly exciting to finally be having, and this was just the beginning! If you're interested in sharing your story with us, please visit the our webpage.

We couldn't be happier with the response to our work, and we're proud and privileged to be able to walk side-by-side with staff, volunteers, supporters and partner organizations in support our growing, vibrant and engaged community. We're excited by what the future holds!

Be sure to view, like and share our photos from the day!
