Mostafa Bondok

Mostafa is a student at the University of British Columbia studying Genetics and Health, with hopes of pursuing a career in the health-care sector. His volunteer involvement revolves around supporting disadvantaged Canadians. From volunteering serving meals to the homeless, to co-founding a non-profit dedicated to helping integrate and support refugee migrants, he believes and has seen how impact can be channelled through a single interaction.

In 2018, Mostafa spent 3 months in Mbale, Uganda working for an HIV/AIDS Support Organization (HASNN) in the slums of Namatala. His team's goal was to help establish the resources and presence needed to allow HASNN to help prevent, educate, and support those living with HIV and the community at large. This experience allowed him to discover the difficulty of living with HIV and the immense stigmatization that renders this community isolated.

As a self-proclaimed life-long learner, Mostafa hopes to use this opportunity to contribute and grow while being a part of AIDS Vancouver’s mission and working towards the establishment of ‘undetectable’ as an emerging face of HIV. He is excited to be part of the team, and looks forward to serving his immediate community here in Vancouver.
