Celebrating Pride with the Miss Red Ribbon Pageant 2011!

AIDS Vancouver Staff, Volunteers and Supporters donned their feather boas and tiaras for Pride Parade 2011.

The AIDS Vancouver’s Miss Red Ribbon Pageant 2011 float looked fantastic with volunteers and staff dressed up in “pageant style attire” to promote AIDS Vancouver’s We Care Red Ribbon Campaign, from November 14- December 2nd, 2011.

May McQueen one of our longest serving volunteers, who has volunteered with AID'S Vancouver for over 20 years, was crowned Miss Red Ribbon 2011! She waved at on lookers from the back of the convertible with around 35 staff and volunteers dancing down the streets behind her.

The AIDS Vancouver float was showered with large applause throughout the parade! This was a great response and really displayed to us how much the Vancouver community really appreciates all the hard work that AIDS Vancouver does.

AIDS Vancouver was also involved in the Pride Parade Grand Marshall honour. Bob Tivey, the first Executive Director of AIDS Vancouver, who passed away earlier this year, was honoured posthumously for all his hard work around HIV/AIDS issues and awareness in the 1980’s and beyond.

From all the staff at AIDS Vancouver we wish to thank all the fantastic volunteers and supporters for making this year’s AIDS Vancouver’s Pride Parade Entry so fabulous!!!!
