AIDS Vancouver offers volunteers diverse opportunities to learn, gain new skills and experiences, meet new people and get involved in community. Come join our team!
Why do you want to volunteer?
Finding a volunteer opportunity starts with you. What are your interests, passion or skills? How do you want to be involved in your community? What is important to you to start doing in your life right now? The answers to these questions will help you and AIDS Vancouver better meet your expectations to volunteer.
Tips for getting started
Interested in volunteering? Not sure where to begin? Try asking yourself the following questions:
- Why choose AIDS Vancouver? What is motivating you to want to participate with our organization? What is your comfort, experience or interest in working with HIV community?
- What matters most to you? If you had all the human and financial resources in the world, what problem would you solve, what would you change or what would you create?
- What kind of time commitment are you willing to make? Are you looking for a regular/weekly volunteer commitment or a short-term/one-time opportunity? At AIDS Vancouver we require a minimum six month to one year commitment at four hours per week for most of our positions.
- What is your personal style or comfort? Do you like working with other people or by yourself? Think about volunteer opportunities that you are comfortable with and/or want to gain new experiences in.
- Is transportation or geography an issue? Would you like to volunteer close to home, from your own home, or at the organization? All AIDS Vancouver sites are Vancouver based with limited ability to work off site or in other parts of the Lower Mainland.
- What would you like to learn or contribute? Do you have specific skills or talents you would like to share or learn with our organization?
- Do you have personal goals that volunteering can help you meet? Do you need this experience to help you enter the workforce, learn a language, apply for school or meet new people?
At AIDS Vancouver, our volunteer opportunities have a lot to offer people from all types of backgrounds and experience. We welcome the diversity that you bring to our organization.
