Through it's history and still today, AIDS Vancouver is primarily led by settlers. This reality is reflected in all aspects of how AIDS Vancouver works such as who we hire, what types of programs and services we have available, and what our priorities have been. We are working to ensure Indigenous communities inform changes to our work that reflect Indigenous knowledge and wisdom.

At this time, the AIDS Vancouver team includes a dedicated Indigenous Health Promotion Case Manager, Indigenous peers, and an Elder, and we are at the beginning of our work to fully respect, welcome, and support Indigenous people impacted by HIV. We know this work includes creating space for Indigenous leadership.

With this in mind, the AIDS Vancouver Indigenous Program Committee provides direction for Indigenous programs in our space, as well as supporting other organizational initiatives.
